hand%20only%20was%20targeted%2C%20and%20two%20anatomical%20sites%20were%20sonicated%20in%20this%20exploratory%20study%3A%20the%20ventral%20intermediate%20nucleus%20of%20the%20thalamus%20%28VIM%29%20and%20the%20dentato-rubro-thalamic%20tract%20%28DRT%29.%20Patients%20%28N%3D9%29%20were%20equipped%20with%20MR-compatible%20accelerometers%20attached%20to%20their%20hands%20to%20monitor%20their%20tremor%20in%20real-time%20during%20TUS.%5CnResults%5CnVIM%20neurostimulations%20followed%20by%20a%20low-duty%20cycle%20%285%25%29%20DRT%20stimulation%20induced%20a%20substantial%20decrease%20in%20the%20tremor%20power%20in%20four%20patients%2C%20with%20a%20minimum%20of%2089.9%25%20reduction%20when%20compared%20with%20the%20baseline%20power%20a%20few%20minutes%20after%20the%20DRT%20stimulation.%20The%20only%20patient%20stimulated%20in%20the%20VIM%20only%20and%20with%20a%20low%20duty%20cycle%20%285%25%29%20also%20experienced%20a%20sustained%20reduction%20of%20the%20tremor%20%28up%20to%2093.4%25%29.%20Four%20patients%20%28N%3D4%29%20did%20not%20respond.%20The%20temperature%20at%20target%20was%2037.2%20%5Cu00b1%201.4%5Cu00b0C%20compared%20to%2036.8%20%5Cu00b1%201.4%5Cu00b0C%20for%20a%203cm%20away%20control%20point.%5CnConclusions%5CnMR-guided%20low%20power%20TUS%20can%20induce%20a%20substantial%20and%20sustained%20decrease%20of%20tremor%20power.%20Follow-up%20studies%20need%20to%20be%20conducted%20to%20reproduce%20the%20effect%20and%20better%20to%20understand%20the%20variability%20of%20the%20response%20amongst%20patients.%20MR%20thermometry%20during%20neurostimulations%20showed%20no%20significant%20thermal%20rise%2C%20supporting%20a%20mechanical%20effect.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222024-05-09%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1016%5C%2Fj.brs.2024.05.003%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%221935-861X%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fwww.sciencedirect.com%5C%2Fscience%5C%2Farticle%5C%2Fpii%5C%2FS1935861X24000858%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%2294NJIV78%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222024-05-15T17%3A25%3A58Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
